I understand why Zapawork and Mittani are so quick to respond and defend their position. GoonSwarm puts a lot of stock in their prowess as metagame masters. The perception of their ability to shape the game through diplomacy, intelligence and scamming has been a source of power that they lorded over other alliance in the past to keep them in line. This little incident has the potential to reveal to the rest of EVE just what a paper tiger Goon intelligence has become.

Hawkeye was perceptive in his conception and execution surrounding this incident. From the moment HanShuu contacted him, Hawkeye could see the potential, thatÆs why he insisted that Zapa contact him and get involved. While he waited, the opportunity was forwarded to the leadership.

What may have started as an opportunity for a few laughs quickly turned into an opportunity for more. Hawk sold Zapa a bill a goods he was more then willing to buy, and Zapa took Hawkeye into his confidence and made it clear that Esoteria was the next target no matter what. For us, this was the big score; we got some nice intel and passed it up the chain. The logs can confirm all of this.

We had successfully exploited a sloppy diplo. Our leadership and allies were alerted. The mission was a success, but it would have remained a minor private victory had the Mittani not stepped in.

Mittani gave Zapa cover and put his seal of approval on the operation when he took this public. He turned a private victory into a mammoth unveiling of the ineptitude of the goon intelligence operation. He revealed that he is as easy to dupe with tall tails of an alliance that lives to escort LiamÆs freighters as Zapa was. Mittani failed to see what many in this thread saw right through. They have gotten arrogant and sloppy. What used to be a perceived strength of the swarm is unmasked. ThatÆs why Mittani and Zapa care so much. And the best part is they did this to themselves, poetic.
